What if Traditional Therapy isn't Working?

As an EMDR trained therapist, I have found that many of the client’s coming in to seek EMDR therapy are coming in as a last-ditch effort to overcome distress. Many clients have stated that traditional talk therapy reduced some, but not all, of the underlying feelings of discontent.
So, what is EMDR therapy? EMDR, or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, is a therapy treatment that uses bilateral stimulation (a stimulus presented to both sides of your body) to hyperfocus your brain’s attention to a target memory or feeling. EMDR utilizes your brain’s own capacity to heal itself. This particular type of therapy was developed in 1987 to successfully treat Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. In addition to PTSD, it has also been successfully used by trained therapists to treat anxiety, panic attacks, grief, anger, depression, feelings of worthlessness, low self-esteem, and performance anxiety.
You do not have to continue to struggle. EMDR is a researched based treatment that can help you discharge, release, and come to peace with the stressful thoughts and feelings that have remained stuck in your consciousness. It can also help bring clarity to current stressors and events. Don’t give up on therapy, just change your tactic! We can help.
